disque | dis ce que | disc

dear reader,

welcome to dis ce que [you can pronounce me ‘disc’], a series where we informally look into the following topics:

  • experimental/contemporary/new music composition & analysis —from making it, listening to it, witnessing others creating it and everything in between

  • tuning theory

  • algorithmic music & music programming

  • rational intuition in music creation

  • sound art & performance

  • experimental choreography (why not)

  • some methodologies and shared experiences on art-making

  • embracing an inclusive and non-dogmatic gaze on all the topics mentioned above, avoiding the usual academic kind of tone.

for the little story, in French, ‘dis ce que’ is a ± way to announce what one is going to say — and it sounds exactly like ‘disc’ in English. for instance: ‘dis ce que tu penses’ (‘say what you think’), ‘tu dis ce que tu penses’ (you say what you think), & the exquisite ‘dis ce que tu penses de ce disque’ (say what you think about this disc)
